Aromatherapy oils to soothe body and mind
To start with lavender, lavender, lavender. It's so often quoted as a sleep aid, soul soother, pressure reliever and nausea queller. In aromatherapy we call it a synergist as there's nothing it doesn't blend well with. You might have heard me say ''If in doubt add lavender'' when talking about many different life trials. I use lavender in oil massaged on the skin, in a spray mist for the face and in tea blends for relaxation. When you have a smell you love it brings relief from the very moment you start to twist off the lid.
As I began to realise the stress was also triggering a grief response I reached for my wild rose oil. The great emotional harmoniser, Rose oil is brilliant for times in our lives where there's a real push:pull dynamic, an emotional struggle and intense and overwhelming feelings of change. When I take a moment to slowly and mindfully breathe in the scent of the rose I feel a tangible release and opening of my heart. There's a reason it's referred to as the Queen of Oils! My rose oil is literally a hug in a bottle.
Easing out aches and pains with a soak in the bath
There's nothing that provides more immediate relief for me than stepping into a hot bath. Water infused with arnica muscle soak eases all physical woes and mental exhaustion. Rarely am I in the bath for less than an hour and I have been know to spend all evening listening to podcasts or watching a film on the ipad! Arnica soak brings a frazzled mind and harrassed body back into balance. Hippocrates, often referred to as the Father of Medicine said ''The way to health is to have an aromatic bath and a scented massage every day''. Wise words indeed!
Homeopathic support in times of stress
When a crisis hits us it can feel so out of the blue. But often it's the final straw after quietly enduring more and more stress over a period of time. I think now this was true for me. I suffer with migraines and had noticed an increased frequency of attacks when I was physically exhausted or not getting enough sleep. Sadly there will always be stressful moments in our lives that are out of our control. I find Weleda's homeopathic Low Mood and Stress relief remedy really helpful for mild anxiety, fatigue and restlessness. I use it in a pre-emptive way when I know there is a lot to manage or I'm feeling emotionally fragile. I feel it gives me a little more resilience to deal with what's coming my way without any side effects.
